, december 13th, i am dave clark. >> good morning, i am pam cook, let's get to steve paulson for the weather. >>> today will be a very chilly day and we are struggling to get above 54, here is sal. >>> we are looking at80 westbound which a decent drive all the way to berkeley. we have been following 101 traffic approaching the 880, we have a fatal car crash. let's go to tara moriarty. >> reporter: two cars were involved as well as a smaller sedan and a couple, a man and woman were driving in that sedan and were rear-ended by the suv. it is believed that the sedan was driving at a slow rate of speed and we don't know if that contributed to that accident and the women in the sedan is dead and it happened at 330. can you tell me if you know anybody who was involved in this crash. >> it appears they were coming down on the bridge and was rear- ended by a much larger suv. >> reporter: did drugs or alcohol play a factor or anything like that? >> right now the sobriety -- sobriety gives no indication of whether it was a factor. >> reporter: how long will the bridge be affected? >> like you said we

davis joined us this morning, and we have dave clark joining us for the next half. dave has been an award winning newsmen for 35 years. he has been broadcasting for 35 years. he started when he was 17, so i have not had a chance to ask him what that special experience might have been about, but maybe you'll get a chance to ask him about this. i was interested in reading about all the places that he has worked. he has ben in new york city, washington d.c., he has been in los angeles. probably the most interesting for me was the fact that he was in philadelphia for a number of years. we know in the department of aging and adult services that philadelphia has one of the most interesting and creative network of services for older adults in the country. it is really accessible to older adults. some of the most creative work we have seen at around the country. dave is also on the board of several civic organizations including the challengers boys and girls club, and cure autism now. edave -- dave, take it away. >> and good morning, can you hear me? in the back, can you hear me? i can s

and say good morning, it is tuesday, december 6th, i am dave clark. >>> a driver took out a fire hydrant while running from police and that crash shut down an intersection. claudine wong has been out there since 4:30 how does it look now, claudine? >> reporter: investigators are trying to figure out how much this costs. and their focus is on one section of the scaffolding and you can see it is collapsed right there. figuring out how long it will take and if the structure is safe, it will take awhile, they just said they have to wait for their truck and then they have to see if it's going to be safe. for now this section of essex which now leads to the bay bridge is going to be shut down and now i want to lead you to the video which caused this mess. it was a scene up about 3:30 and you can see that fire hydrant got knocked off by this vehicle and police say that vehicle ran a red light and when the police officer tried to stop the driver he took off. he hit that fire hydrant sent that water shooting up into the air. it caused a problem and it led to concerns over the scaffolding on this

to "mornings on 2". i'm dave clark. >> good morning. i'm tori campbell. it's wednesday, december 5th. >>> in the pouring rain, berkeley crime technicians spent the night collecting schools in a fatal shooting outside of a school. alex savidge is live where a woman riding her bicycle was gunned down there. alex? >> reporter: good morning. the woman was likely in her late 40s and early 50s. so far she's not been identified. she was riding her bike along this stretch of sacramento street late last night when she was shot to death. the circumstances before that shooting still unclear for berkeley police. this shooting happened right now next door to the yard here at longfellow middle school. this street was blocked off for several hours early this morning as investigators gathered evidence out here. just a few hours ago, the coroner came in and took away the woman's body. berkeley police got this call around 11:30 last night 911 calls came in. a lieutenant described this as a seemingly innocuous call, except when officers arrived, they saw the woman was shot. she was pronounced dead on t
, good morning. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm dave clark. >> good morning. i'm tori campbell. we're tracking developing news of an accident that shut down a san francisco intersection. a driver took out a fire hydrant at folsom and essex near the onramp to the bay bridge. claudine wong is out there. are they getting close to reopening it yet, claudine? >> reporter: well, close, probably not but they are doing some important work right now. within the last half-hour since we last checked in with you, the crews for this scaffolding company have started to arrive. once the bus gets out of the way, you can see the work they are doing. what they told me they need to do is repair the collapsed bottom part of the scaffolding. once they do that -- and that could take a while -- then they will test it to make sure it is safe. if you pan across essex, you can see the entire area is shut down. that's because the fire department is out there. if there's any question about the structural integrity. this is entrance to the bay bridge. traffic at this point, just has to go around. let me show y

morning. i'm dave clark. it's thursday december 13th. we have the update on breaking news. a high school is shut down. classes canceled after a threat to the school was found. we are there. you are near monta vista. what's the latest >> reporter: i have been putting in calls to the sheriff's office and coopertino police and haven't heard back. the deputies said they closed off the road. they are directing traffic because they don't want to let anybody near monta vista. we are here -- and the high school is located about a quarter mile west up the road. we saw the bomb unit drive in about 20 minutes ago and we are told by the sheriff's spokesperson they will be bringing in bomb sniffing dogs to sweep the school. that is because earlier this morning sometime before seven, grafitti was found on the campus of lynn brook in san jose. on that grafitti writing it said that there was a bomb on the campus of monta vista here in coopertino. school officials from lynn brook called police and then everybody here started investigating, coopertino police, the sheriff's department. they have closed dow

"mornings on 2" starts now. >>> well, good morning to you. i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori campbell. it's monday, december 31st, new year's eve. in overnight news, san francisco firefighters had their work cut out for them when a natural gas line burst outside an apartment that was on fire. flames shot in the air on athens around 1:00 this morning. ktvu's alex savidge joins us live from the scene with video you will only see on channel 2. alex? >> reporter: well, good morning. the fire inside of that home is what triggered a second fire that came from the curbside gas valve right outside the home. that's why you see pg&e crews still doing last-minute repair work to patch up the road where they had to dig things up to access that line. that second fire coming from the gas line certainly made things difficult for firefighters this morning, as the fire ripped through both floors of the home, and flames from the natural gas line shot 15 feet in the air. the homeowners had to wait for the pg&e to turn off the gas line. this started around 1:00 on the 100 block of at
